Welcome to Himalaya Academy. I am Teacher Liu, and like everyone else, I am a parent of school-age children.
Children's education is an eternal topic. In the face of a dazzling array of courses, numerous educational institutions, and dazzling secrets for pushing babies, have you ever had a tangle that you can't start with? On the way to children's education, I have thought a lot and practiced a lot. I share some of my knowledge with parents:
(1) Inadequate basic education in the United States: There is no doubt that American basic education has its advantages, such as attaching importance to children's personality, critical thinking, social interaction, etc., but the basic training of academic subjects, in the eyes of Chinese parents, is really not enough. The progress is slow and not solid, the lower grades are too easy, and the high school suddenly rises, leaving many children at a loss, it takes a long time to adapt and adjust, and parents are also anxious. Therefore, I often hear parents discussing the advantages and disadvantages of private and public schools. Parents all expect to help their children lay a solid foundation from an early age, but public schools rely on talent and children’s self-consciousness. Talented students enter the fast class, and other students are put away. It's up to you. However, after all, gifted children are a minority. In view of this, I transferred my child to a private school, which is much better academically than the public school, but I still have to send my child to various improvement classes. ※Thinking: Is it possible for children to grow up freely under the American education system and have a solid basic academic literacy?
(2) Implement personalized education in a targeted manner to meet the needs of various children. Every child has different talents and interests. How to tap and develop the child's greatest potential? Is it possible for every child to learn at a pace that suits them, to lay a solid foundation and to run faster? ※Thinking: Is it feasible for educational institutions to teach students in accordance with their aptitude as much as possible?
(3) Do children want to learn everything and fully blossom? There are many educational subjects, and each subject has its own unique charm value. Children can try to find a direction that suits them, and then develop further. After all, it is easy to get started, but difficult to master. If you want to make some achievements, it is even more difficult, and it takes a lot of time and energy. It is often seen that some children bloom all over the place and finally give up. Children are used to giving up, and will gradually wear down their will to persevere. The constant trial and search process is also a challenge for parents. ※Intuition: Be normal, don't envy "other people's children", and discover the bright spots in children. Observing children's preferences in life, discovering points of interest, introducing incentives, and targeted learning. Finding, tapping, and persevering in your child's talents is necessary for success.
With these questions and thoughts, "Young My Young and People's Young", I wanted to build a school according to the standards of my ideal school, so I started a three-year preparation road. The road of these three years has not been smooth. I have consulted experts in many fields and studied various educational concepts and models. It is indeed difficult to achieve the word "ideal", but the goal is becoming clearer and clearer, and more and more know what to do.
First, the location. The safety of children is the first priority, the surrounding environment should not be cluttered, it should be elegant and quiet, and it is as convenient as possible for parents to pick up and drop off.
Second, air conditioning, fire fighting, and escape facilities are complete, in line with City requirements, and operate according to regulations.
Third, the teaching staff. Specialist teachers are an important guarantee of teaching quality and do not teach across subjects.
Fourth, design courses according to the characteristics of different subjects.
Fifth, teach students in accordance with their aptitude. Give children of different levels corresponding levels of courses, give children a high enough platform, and do not limit the upper limit of children's development. Students of different levels are not taught together. Sixth, knowledge and interest coexist, learning is not boring, and it can also ensure that the learning content is digested in school, and there is no need to take it home to trouble parents for secondary counseling.
